Can I leave out the red food coloring from this pork recipe?

Yes, if you're wanting to skip the red coloring, you can leave it out. It really doesn't add any taste to the dish but more gives it that visual appeal that we're so used to seeing at the restaurants.

How long should I marinate pork?

For this recipe, overnight. As long as you let it rest for at least 6-8 hours in the marinade, you should be good to go.

It's a good rule of thumb to remember that it's really not good to marinate food items longer than 24 hours as there's a chance that it can take on too much of the marinade or flavor.

What would you serve this Chinese BBQ pork recipe with?

To be honest, it's really great on its own. But if you need to pair it up with something, steamed white rice (or brown rice) is always a good choice. You can also steam some broccoli or Brussel sprouts as well.

Any type of green veggie is really great with this dish. Don't forget that fresh chives and cilantro also taste stellar with this pork recipe, too!

It's also a super simple way to meal prep and have a tasty dinner just waiting to unthaw.

Step 2 says "Add the remaining ingredients" although later you explicitly state that the Sesame oil and the Olive oil should be added to the instapot instead.
