How to Make

Full directions for this brisket recipe are in the printable recipe card below. This is a quick overview.

Whip up the dry rub mixture, and rub all over the brisket.

Marinate the brisket for overnight to help all the flavors mix in to the meat.

Mix the bbq sauce and water together. Pour in the Instant pot, along with the brisket.

Pressure cook as directed, once done remove, slice, and serve. You can broil in the oven for that sticky glaze outside.

If you happen to have some brisket leftover, you will simply store the leftover brisket in the fridge for 3-4 days. Always use your best judgement in terms of quality. When in doubt, toss it out.

Freezing Brisket: Now, you can freeze brisket if you don't eat it all. Place your leftover brisket in the freezer bag or airtight container. Freeze for up to three months.

Thaw in the fridge overnight then reheat.

How to Reheat Brisket: Reheating brisket can be done in a handful of ways. Warm leftovers up in the microwave, on the stovetop, or even in the oven.

If you warm your meat up in the oven, make sure to cover it in aluminum foil and add a little water to prevent the meat from drying out.

Recipe FAQs

BBQ brisket recipe FAQs, to problem solve and simplify cooking your brisket in Instant Pot.

Is brisket beef or pork?

Brisket is beef. Brisket can also be veal, but most of the time recipes will say veal if it is not meant to be beef.

What part of the cow is brisket?

Brisket is a cut found in the lower chest area. You will find that brisket is an expensive cut. But when cooked right, it is a premium cut of beef.

How to slice brisket?

When you cut brisket, you need to cut against the grain. Otherwise, it will leave your meat tough and it won't be tender the way you want.

Does brisket need to rest before slicing?

Yes. You need to make sure to allow your brisket to rest for around 30 minutes once it is done. This is going to allow your beef to cool down and retain the moisture.
If you slice it up right out of the pressure cooker it can leave your beef dry, tough, and less than enjoyable.
