One Tip for Cleaning Your Instant Pot

While cooking in the Instant Pot is so quick and easy, it can sometimes leave behind stubborn stains and build-up.

Here's an easy solution for returning the Instant Pot inner liner (the stainless steel pot) to its original sparkling state.

Sprinkle some Bar Keepers Friend in the bottom of the pot, add a touch of water, and give it a scrub with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This simple combination really does work wonders!

2 More Reasons to Use Dried Black Beans

If you're watching your budget, they can save you a pretty penny, since canned black beans cost roughly three times more than dried black beans.

Canned black beans often contain high levels of sodium. For those on a low-salt diet, canned beans are not the best option. Using dry black beans gives you all the control, so you can add as much or as little salt as you want.

  • Can a dog eat Black Beans? Dogs can eat beans, their consumption is recommended, however, they require specific preparation for their digestion (like everything that has to do with dog food generally), therefore it would be best to give them simple beans, with a little salt and without any of the spicy ingredients, not even garlic or onion. Since a dog's stomach is complicated, and eating salty foods can cause dangerous heart problems, while spicy foods can lead to digestive problems. Although beans can be a great source of fiber and protein, and some varieties contain beneficial vitamins and minerals, they should not be used as a substitute for animal protein. They shouldn't be served in large quantities either (they make dogs and humans gassy!).
  • Can a cat eat Black Beans? Beans are not toxic to cats, therefore they can be eaten without a problem. While beans are packed with protein, it is not the type of protein your cat needs. Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that they require specific nutrients that can only be supplied by ingesting animal protein. So, before you serve your furry friend a spoonful of beans, you should know that in large quantities, eating beans can be harmful to a cat. Also, cats cannot eat all kinds of beans, canned or highly seasoned beans are strictly prohibited as they contain too much sodium. And much fewer beans with hot sauce or strong spices.
