How Do I Make my Instant Pot Beef Stew recipe Tender?

Beef stew is one of those recipes that takes its own sweet time to cook. If you try to rush the process, you’ll end up with meat that’s super tough and chewy.

Of course, using the right cut of meat also makes a difference, but so does cooking it for the right amount of time.

Allow the meat to cook as much as possible, while keeping the flame low.

What Should I Do to Thicken My Instant Pot Beef Stew Recipe?

If your beef stew has turned out a bit more runny than you’d like, you can always thicken it by adding a bit of flour, and giving it a nice stir. Flour can thicken your stew and lend it that incredible consistency.

How Can I Make the Stew More Flavorful?

One of the best ways to ensure that your beef stew is super flavorful is to never forget to sear the meat chunks.

Browning the meat from all sides is an incredibly important part of the recipe that most people tend to ignore, possibly in an attempt to speed up the process.

When you sear the meat, your stew will turn out to have an incredible depth of flavor.

Plus, you can also sprinkle some herbs and spices to add some more flavor to your stew- oregano, rosemary, paprika, parsley, basil etc are good options.

Why Are My Veggies Mushy?

A common mistake lots of people tend to make while cooking beef stew is that they add the veggies in along with the meat, not realizing that meat and veggies both need different cooking times.

Ideally, it is best to add the veggies into the mix after the meat is almost halfway done.

That way, the veggies won’t get overcooked and mushy and will retain just the right texture. Carrots, green peas, turnips and potatoes are some excellent veggie options to consider.

Once you’re done serve the stew with some bread on the side or some egg noodles if you have them- you can use them to mop up all the extra gravy that’s left after you’ve finished your bowl.
