Sharing is caring!

Converting ounces to cups can be a simple task for Instant Pot users- if measured correctly. Here, we breakdown a few quick strategies on how to convert ounces to cups that can be used time and time again.

How to convert ounces to cups

There are 8 fluid ounces in a cup, which means you can have 16, 24 or 32 fluid ounces in a few cups. For example. you can use 12 ounces of evaporated milk in our Instant Pot Ground Beef Queso 8 1/2 ounces of vegetable stock in our Instant Pot Mexican Rice and Beans or 28 ounces of crushed tomatoes in our Instant Pot Tomato Chicken Penne Pasta recipe.

Each dish converts ounces to cups beautifully and makes for a delicious night in.

In order to convert ounces to cups you can go about it a few ways.

If handling milk or juice liquids, you can use a glass measuring cup that ranges from 1 to 4 cups. Many glass measuring cups have the ounces indicated, making the measuring process super easy.

If handling stocks or broth, you can use a glass measuring cup or a standard coffee or drinking cup- each providing a 1 1/2 cups of liquid for easy conversion.

If using canned broths or creamed ingredients you can actually use the can to measure liquid! Just go by the oz indicator on the label to make the conversion- and remember, 8 fluid ounces in 1 cup!

Other items that can be used is medium-size mason jars, empty peanut butter containers, and water bottles.

Another thing to note is that liquid ounces to cups is different from dry ounces to cups measurements.

Simply put, if your recipe requires a cup of dry pasta, like our Tomato Chicken Penne, then you will need to use stainless steel measuring cups and a weight scale, you will not get an accurate measuring if you use glass measuring cups.

Likewise, if your recipe calls for 5 cups of broth like our Instant Pot Creamy Keto Chicken Taco Soup then using a glass measuring cup would not work best over a stainless steel measuring cup because the stainless steel measuring cups won't give you an accurate count.
