Wanting to try your hand at our Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats? First, we need to discuss measurements- particularly how many cups in a quart of milk to use in your inner pot.

How Many Cups In a Quart

There are 4 cups of liquid in 1 quart. From our previous article, How Many Ounces In A Cup, we know that there are 8 fluid ounces in 1 cup, which means that there are 32 fluid ounces in a quart.

Both are important to know because even though the Instant Pot takes the hassle out of traditional home cooking, all Instant Pots weren't created equal.

The biggest differences will be in the quart size, pressure system, and programming- which are all important for properly measuring your ingredients.

When it comes to the quart size, 4 cups of liquid in a 3-quart inner pot will have a significantly limited outcome than a 6- or 8-quart inner pot.

To put it into perspective, if you're preparing Instant Pot Cream of Wheat or Steel Cut Oatmeal, a 3-quart inner pot will just make the cut off- ingredients-wise- because the oats will need to expand.

The expansion of the oats may cause an overflow if there is not enough space. Sadly, overflowing Instant Pots are a common issue within the community, and improper measurements are usually the root cause.

Same for Instant Pot Rice Pudding or rice dishes in general, as rice is one of the most mismeasured ingredients that leads to Instant Pot overflowing issues.
