Why Make Apple Jam...
- Great way to use up apples
- Spreads well on toast, bagels, English Muffins, and so much more.
- Use a variety of apples for added depth of flavor
- Apples chopped and peeled
- Brown sugar
How to Make
Peel the apples for the Apple Pie Jam. Remove the hull of the apples.
Chop into chunks (about 1 inch each). Add all of the ingredients to the Instant Pot to make the Instant Pot jam.
Stir to combine. Set the valve to "sealing".
Start the Instant Pot in manual mode for 2 minutes at high pressure. Release the pressure naturally and then carefully open the Instant Pot when the pressure has all released.
Switch the Instant Pot to saute mode. Saute for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once most of the liquid has evaporated and the Apple Pie jam has thickened, turn off the Instant Pot. Store the jam in jars and refrigerate for a week or two.
Packed with the goodness of cinnamon, honey, ginger and apples, this jam is actually a super healthy and nutritious alternative to your regular, store bought jam, and once you realise how easy it is to make it, you'll never go back!
Plus, once you've mastered making this jam, you can also give other combinations and jam recipes a try in your instant pot!

Store your jam in the fridge until you are ready to use. You can store the apple jam in the mason jars, or any sealable container.
I find glass jars are best as they don't take on other odors from the fridge and change up the flavor of your jam.
You can also freeze this jam if you don't eat it all right away. Store in proper containers and freezer for 3-4 months.
Then when you are ready to eat some, place in the fridge and allow it to thaw 1-2 days.
Tips and Tricks For Recipe
- I recommend peeling the apples, as you get the best texture to the jam.
- You could do a variety of apples. Some green apples, yellow, and even some red ones. This will help add a lot more elements of flavor. Sweet, tangy, and a little sour if you use green apples.
- Dice apples uniformly so you can get an even cook.
This recipe here does not use pectin. I wanted to create a jam without pectin, just in case you didn't want to use any. It is a nice thick jam, that is spreadable.
Use a stovetop canner, and heat the water, and prep your jars. Fill the sterilized jars with jam, and clean the top. Place in the hot water bath for 10 minutes. Carefully remove and allow the seals to pop.
Then store as directed.
Due to all the sugar, it is not recommended. You can give your dog just a little of the jam, but don't incorporate this into their daily diet.
